In collaboration with the Center for Visual Music EYE presented an exhibition of Oskar Fischinger (1900-1967). The German-American avant-garde filmmaker made short films that have had a significant influence on the development of animation and still be a inspirationn for artists and designers. The exhibition also highlighted Fischingers earliest experiments and inventions such as the wax slicing machine.

Oskar Fischinger started his career in Munich and worked in Berlin.Through his pioneering inventions and experiments with projection, color and animation, he was nicknamed “The Wizard of Friedrichstrasse. From 1936, he worked briefly in command in Hollywood, but he preferred the freedom of the artist. Fischingers work still inspires creators of computer graphics, animation and visual effects.
Never before seen animation drawings
, the exhibition included many of Oskar Fischingers movies and never-before-seen animation drawings. This animation drawings he used to record his animated frame by frame. There were also paintings, see annotated music scores, photographs and documents.
Additional workshops on the last day
EYE organized animation workshops at the exhibition in February and earned the title Museum of the Month.
