An extensive exhibition on one of the most influential film directors of the 20th century: Stanley Kubrick (1928-1999), the genius behind such films as Lolita, 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange and The Shining.
Kubrick’s films are both technically and artistically stunning. Content he often sought the controversy.
The exhibition was seeing a coproduction with the Deutsches Filmmuseum in Frankfurt and showed all facets of the development of Kubrick’s films: scenarios to storyboards, from setmodellen to real props and costumes to fragments of the final films and documentaries.
Parallel to the exhibition EYE showed a retrospective of the films of Kubrick, The Killer’s Kiss (1955) to Eyes Wide Shut (1999). In special programs such as debates, interviews and lectures, was zoomed in Kubrick’s work and his personal motivations.

The large polyester phallus from A Clockwork Orange was added from August 24th to the exhibition Stanley Kubrick: The Exhibition.The nearly one meter phallus appears to be a sculpture by Dutch artist Herman Makkink who lived in the sixties in London.
Kubrick bought two of his paintings in a search for suitable artwork for A Clockwork Orange and used the phallus, called Rocking Machine, one of the most famous scenes from the film.
